Hi, everyone calls me Shay! I’m originally from Nashville, Tennessee, and moved to Birmingham to attend college at Samford University. I graduated in 2015 with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing. I started my nursing career in the Cardiac ICU at Children of Alabama where I worked for 7 years until I decided I needed a break from the 12-hour shifts and moved to PRN at a children’s clinic. I’m passionate about helping people live healthier, stronger lives—both inside and outside the gym.
Fitness has always been a part of who I am. I grew up as a gymnast and later found my love for weightlifting after joining a CrossFit gym while in college. I took some time away from training to focus on starting a family with my husband, Justin. We have two amazing boys—Beckham and Brooks—and we’re excited to welcome our third, Barron, very soon. After a few years off I decided it was time to refocus on my health and that’s what brought me to The Pound.
Being a part of The Pound has been one of the most meaningful experiences of my life. God knew exactly what he was doing and His timing was perfect! My husband and I joined the gym and almost immediately fell in love with the fitness and even more with the people. As a mostly stay-at-home mom, community was very important to me and The Pound is more than just a gym—it’s a family. Everyone uplifts, challenges, and supports each other. I feel so blessed to coach here and help people push past their limits, achieve their goals, and feel like the best version of themselves. There’s truly no place like The Pound, and I’m so proud to be a part of it.
